Situated in a compact chocolate box village
at 1500 metres in NE Switzerland, a part of the Alps
with a very good snow record. Grischa Lodge has a wide
choice of room types to cater for the outdoor market
and the leisure facilities of a more upmarket hotel. Breakfast
excellent, evening meal with a magnificent salad bar
most evenings. Shop next door. The ski area of
155km is on both sides of the valley and lifts on both
sides can be reached in about 5 minutes walk. From
one side I’ve always managed to ski to the hotel
back door (skis taken off for about 30 yards.) On
piste equivalent to La Clusaz in variety and size,
some very quiet, wide well groomed pistes, off piste,
totally brilliant, equivalent to Val d’Isere. Ski
lessons in English no problem. Very good for non-skiers,
good bus service, frozen lake, nice walks, cross country
loipen, 2 toboggan runs, ice rink opposite hotel, swimming
pool near Lenzerheide etc. Possibility of a day at
Tchierchen at half price (about £10).

Formally the Hotel Post, this hotel
/ hostel has a variety of room comforts from the large ‘Superior’ rooms
with balcony, television, easy chairs as well as upright
chairs, table and desk; en-suite of course, to the 14 bed
dormitory. Within our allocation just under half our
people can be accommodated in 2 bedded rooms* so they are
intended for couples, They are mostly en-suite. The
rest vary from 3 to 6 beds. These make family rooms
or ‘wait and see’ sharing rooms (appropriately
so) for teenagers or single adults as in a youth hostel.
*Sorry there are no proper doubles. They are all ‘mind
the gap’ twins.
Breakfast is superior continental, with
fruit cocktail, yoghurt, cereal, cooked meats, cheese and
very nice bread.
The eat together evening meal at 7pm usually has a magnificent
salad bar, a filling main course of variable liking according
to your tastes and a small desert.
A star feature of this hotel is the
indoor leisure facilities worthy of far grander establishments.
